How does it work?

Unlike other techniques, which allow amateurs to venture into painting, electrostatic painting “requires” the work of a professional. Including, being a procedure done preferably in an industrial environment. That’s because it requires a different form of application, with a special pistol that is pre-loaded.

In this way, when the surface is painted, the paint receives an electrical charge contrary to that of the surface material, providing a greater fixation of the paint on the part.

The type of paint most used in this method is powder-based and has no solvent, so it is considered an ecological paint. After being applied to the piece, it is taken to a kind of oven, where the powder-based paint will fuse with the applied surface.

What are the advantages of electrostatic painting?

As we have already said, one of the great advantages of electrostatic painting is its resistance. Because of the attraction of electrical charges, present in the paint and the material on which it is applied, the paint sticks like a magnet and provides a stronger painting than most methods we find out there.

Therefore, it offers resistance to abrasion and corrosion, resistance to the effects of exposure to the weather (sunrays, heat, cold, humidity…) and, in some cases, even resistance to impacts.

But resistance is not the only advantage that this type of paint has. Well, another benefit provided by it is the perfection of the finish, which does not usually show stains, bubbles or drips.

In addition, this type of painting is flexible, that is, it can cover areas that are difficult to access. It has a great diversity of colors, excellent performance, is not aggressive to the environment, allows the color change to be done quickly and has a good variety of application.
